How to Keep Your Kayaking Interesting

November 25, 2013 by · Leave a Comment

If you enjoy kayaking, Washington is the right state to live in. You can kayak a number of waterways spread out over the state or seek the Pacific ocean for more options like taking your kayak to San Juan island.

There are a number of ways to keep your kayaking from getting boring. Kayaking in tandem, for example, is a great way to spend time with a friend or spouse. While you do it, you’ll also be moving twice as fast as you’re used to, allowing you to cover more ground at once.

Try taking your kayak on a camping trip. Pack yours up with the necessary gear and you can use it to camp all down the Snake, Columbia or Yakima rivers. If you’re an avid camper, it’s a great way to combine two of your great loves.

One of the most unique options not just in Washington, but the entire planet, is taking your kayak out to the Pacific and paddling alongside orcas. Believe it or not, you can actually take your kayak out and find orcas much the same way people do when they go whale watching. For best, and safest, results, be sure to take the tour with a professional company that knows what they’re doing.

Kayakin is a tremendous sport that provides an opportunity to enjoy nature and get some great exercise. If you’ve been doing it for a while, consider some of the above options to keep things interesting.
